850 vacuum hoses

Post by Covert »

i need to sort out the remaining vacuum hoses on this 850 im rebuilding.

ive got x2 hard black lines that dissapeer under the passenger front wing , think they go to the charcoal cannister? have no idea what they connect to ??

also right in the middle on the slam panel there is a black box that has a tube coming out of it , its got one big green connector in the middle and a white and purple wire coming out of it , does anyone know what this connects to ?

and a small brass connection on the front of the inlet manifold?

this is the connection on the front of the inlet , the horizontal one

i would take some photots but i have no internet where i am at the moment so cant upload them.

Under your hood, there is a sticker that tells you where the vacuum hoses go to.

The small brass connection goes to the CBV, if I'm not mistaken. The two hard lines are indeed for the charcoal canister under the LEFT hand side "wing". I don't know what a slam panel is.

Depending on the year, the charcoal canister can be up under the inner wing in front of the LH front wheel. It can sometimes require removing the splash guard under the wheel arch to access it if is behind the wheel. Later cars are at the rear of the car.

If your car is the same as mine and a non-turbo, then that line does not go to the CBV (Turbo - Compressor by-pass Valve). It goes to a solenoid valve on mounted to the LH side of the radiator (Right hand side when hanging over the slam panel).

Again this picture only shows part of it, but when I am out in the garage I will take a better picture. I'll also check if I can access the carbon filter for you too.

The guys are right if it is a turbo.

You might try Volvo Parts store (a Volvo dealer in Oak Park,IL), and put your car information in their system. You will go to (your car info here ) engine products, and should will find schematics with various systems of the engine. For example if you are looking for hose connections for an 850 turbo (my car), you would find it under "turbo charger with connecting parts". They list all the parts of that particular model's system. I use it when I need to order parts. Search their site, I found it helpful.
