Still looking for the console piece. One car at the pull a part had a decent one, but the screw mounts were mostly broken. I don't want one that's all scratched up, peeled, or straight up doesn't match. I don't want to have to go to eBay and pay $50 for it either.
Did you check the oil in the junk yard car ? If it looks clean you can drain and use for your next oil change. Charge the junkyard back for waste disposal
Hell, they sell their nasty brown antifreeze, I could buy oil from them!

As far as know this guy was running regular oil/synthetic blend oil but he did change oil/filter during proper intervals. He had a K&N air filter but pulled that out and put in a Mann or Mayle filter. I put the new purge valve in place, cleaned anything that looked dirty but that wasn't really a big job because she's been well kept. I put in a bottle of Octane Booster and filled her up with 93 at the pump. It surprises me that most Turbo Volvo owners don't realize there suppose to use 91 octane or better. I'm going to order some fresh ATF and 6 qts. of LM w/Mann oil filter from FCP. I also have to drain the coolant system since this guy used green coolant instead of the blue NF coolant.

You only need the higher octane for better performance, turbo engines actually have low compression. I know the T5 is 8.5:1, I use the high octane for better performance though, if it helps longevity great but I don't think it is required except when the vehicle is loaded or in hot climate.

Add the usual verbiage that the 91 octane recommendation in the manual is actually our 87 octane here in the States - no idea about Canada though.

I drive like an old fart so I put 91 in the P2 NA (high compression) and 87 in the P80 turbo, unless Im towing in which case it also gets 91.

corrected 97 octane to 87 octane

as corrected. I was working on my e-brake again...

EU 91 Octane is US 87 octane.

I like to play safe and I don't know who to listen to. Someone mentions coolant, you get a few that say regular green is fine, you get others saying PentoFrost NF, then some saying Zerex G-05, then the ones who say Genuine Volvo only. I've learned with fluids to take everyone's recommendations and form my own opinions based on that.
93 octane only for my car. I drive harder and I'm looking for higher performance, so it's not like I'm wasting money using it.
