01 T6 with p1618 and p0734

OK I just bought this car from the original owner a little old lady who stopped driving it when the transmission light and check engine light came on. It has 84k miles on it. When I first started checking everything out I had 5 codes p0236, p0237 p0732 p0734 and p1816. And note that this car sat for a year with NO BATTERY IN IT and I got these codes without having ever drivin it. This was sitting for a year and starting it up and these codes popped up. Now the 0732 is gone but I still have the others. If I clear the light and pull straight out on the freeway Ill get up to 80 @3k RPMs I can see on the tac and feel when it goes into 4th but as soon as I let off the gas it kicks the check engine light on and drops it down in to 3rd and revs up to 4k @ 80mph.

P0734 is the transmission code for what you are experiencing, jumping out of 4th to 3rd. Good luck.

If I just keep my foot on it and let it go and go it doesn't down shift but as soon as I let off the throttle it down shifts.

Only Volvos of Houston told me its common and its 4th gear. That the 4th gear has worn out. Design flaw from GM. I got a quote of 500 to drop the tranny and replace only 4th. Plus service the tranny.

$500 at a dealer isn't bad at all

but what else will they "find" once they open the unit up?
another $2k of stuff?

not a dealer its a shop that only repairs volvos

Took it down to the shop and after driving the car they are saying it feels like the TCM and it has a 530D code.
