got a new cone airfilter on old 850 GLT

180 degree bend is bad for flow.

Your stock air filter would probably have more filter area than that cone.

So you had an opel admiral b? Was this the one with the 327 chevy and the turbo 350 where you could still read chevrolet on the shifter knob?

Just my 2 cents, but I'd say why not? Looks good, and getting rid of the massive air box frees up a bucketload of elbow room to work in there.
