2005 S60 Engine Stutters When Accelerating at High Speed

I thought I would post a solution to a problem I was having with my car in case someone might find it usefull.

At speeds around 50 to 60 mph if I pushed the accelerator down about an inch the engine would stutter like I was flooding it with gas. As soon as I started cruising again it would disappear. Slow acceleration didn't cause it to stutter.

Turns out I replaced all 5 ignition coils and it runs great.

Thanks for posting this! High speed only problems are tough to diagnose of course. Did you have any check engine light codes or did it never code.

I've been bushwhacked here for telling people coil failures don't always throw failure codes and now I have my anecdata

How old are your spark plugs? That's the other part of your ignition System that wears

Thanks for sharing. There were also 1-2 owners who noticed similar behavior at highway speeds related with the coil
