I will repeat. Most of the time the ABs will not show a code that can be read.
Codes are in the check engine light, this is not in that system.
Sometimes there is also something else wrong that will trigger the light but unless the check engine light is also on, no codes to be read.
May not make sense but that's the way it is, (sorry)

so youre saying that if my CEL is on, (say I unplug the MAF or O2 sensor), THEN an ABS code will also show up on the autozone reader?

Please, you are asking the same question, I don't know how I be more clear
No.
ABS is not in this (CEL)system.
If something DIRECTLY connected to the ABS is bad, then it MAY show.
For instance IF a wheel sensor is really bad it MAY show up on the code reader but not if the problem is in the unit.
Look, again, I know it's a bit strange but that's the way it is

Not trying to pick on you but... you said:

That's what Im saying!!! Autozone reader will NOT read ABS codes, since its not part of the engine management system. Ever!
JRL wrote: The times that it does, it can be read with a simple scanner, yours has no codes to show
So according to you, IF there's an ABS code, then the autozone reader should be able to read it. Mmmm...

AFAIK only the volvo scanner can/will read/reset service/ABS/SRS codes. According to you, IF there's a code in the ABS/SRS systems they can also be read with the autozone scanner? Dont think so...

I know the volvo tool WILL find ABS codes in my car. Even tho you said there aren't any... geez....

You can't reset any ABS code (NO ONE CAN) until the problem is found and fixed.
The Volvo scanner MAY be able to find an ABS fault but it cannot redet it.
Even if it could, it will come right back on.
Look, I've done about 10 of these believe me I know it's frustrating

I had a similar problem but with my Check Engine Light. I changed the knock sensors twice because it was giving me a code for that and it will last a week or so without the CEL. At last my mechanic changed the engine wire harness and the ECU and that took care of the problem. I think your problem might be related to the wireharness of ABS module, it might be worth checking.
