Reversed jump start 1993 240 sedan

Post by oilguzzlingmonkey »

Hi all, new to the forum but have owned Volvos for years. My 18 yr old son recently acquired a 93 240 sedan for short money. We have replaced the fuel pump, replaced all the exterior lighting and tune up performed. His door locks are still drawing .4 amps with the car shut off so they are next. Unfortunately the battery died at a friends house and he incorrectly hooked up jumper cables. Now the car will not do anything even with the jumper cables hooked up correctly. I know he fried something but have no idea where to start looking for a problem. There is no battery 60 amp fuse so this must be an early 1993. All the fuses in the box check OK. Can anyone point us in the right direction? Which item is most likely to fry first upon reverse polarity?

My son done same thing on S70 and it's blowing the ignition fuse (15 amp). Hopefully someone can help out. I also changed the voltage regulator as advised on another forum.

I changed the relays in main fuse box that had a j on top of it and the main engine relay. It was a tedious task that left me with 4 empty boxes of fuses so I hope this helps you out.
