2006 S60 2.5T ignition coils

Post by toxtreme »

So I have a 2006 S60 2.5T engine # B5254T2, I'm wondering if it is the same engine as my 05 XC90 2.5T? The engine #59 in the VIN is the same. I've preformed tune ups on both my 05 XC90 2.5T & 00 S80 T6 and they both take the same ignition coils, I looked up what coils go in the 06 S60 and they are different. I bought the different coils and they don't fit!!! the plug pin spacing is not the same as the suggested replacement coil which has me thinking that the coils that I bought for the other 2 Volvo's may be the same for the 06, can anyone help me out. I have an old coil from the S80 in the garage but didn't really want to take the S60 all apart to see if it fits, thought maybe I could get some help from the forums prior to going thru the dis-assembly/ re-assembly to find out that it doesn't fit the S60, thanks in advance.

I think you can get great OEM part number from sites like Lisle Volvo in Illinois (!) which should put this issue to bed.

The coils are the same as follows
99+ motors that are 5cyl
in 2008 when the V70 Changed to 6cyl motor the coils did change.
in 2011 when the S60 Changed to 5cyl and 6cyl the coils changed as well.

Sounds like someone had them listed wrong.
