Subframe bushings failed after 500 miles of use
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... ed-3507923
Bushing are horribly compressed after only 500 miles. The subframe is almost rubbing on the cradle. The OEM ones (in the back) are still going strong. Something told me not to install them in the back of subframe, I'm glad I followed my instincts. They're 100000x better than these Proparts ones. I didn't have any ideas that these would last 18 years. I just wanted them to last 5 years, even a 1 year, until I have a little more money to do things right. Failing in a few weeks was something that I would have never expected.
Subframe bushing inserts failed from the beginning

I thought these would fit into the new bushings. They didn't. I shaved them down, cut them, stabbed them, wailed on them, used a jack on them. They would not go in. They would not go into the old bushings either! One fit into the Proparts bushing with the oval hole.
Lower Torque mount failed in 8-10 months

Don't know what to say about this.
And the piece-de-resistance, Upper Torque Mount Bracket with Bushing(!) failed from the beginning https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 70-3524345
It doesn't hold a bushing!!!! It slides around in the hole. I took a video of it, but I can't even bring myself to upload this. I even spent $30 on a urethane bushing because it has a lip that I thought would hold the bushing in place. It doesn't!!! The hole is currently larger than the outer ridges on the urethane bushing. I have no idea what kind of damage it's done to my other engine mounts (all new) because my engine has been thrashing around like crazy...
Don't buy Proparts. Don't buy Proparts. Don't buy Proparts. Don't buy Proparts.

Yeah, I'm thinking that, too. We got some horrible noises from the front as we started to move the other day which caused me to look. I thought the top mount would be alright, but it was contributing to so much movement. I just checked out my side mount, it's still alright. But I'm sure it's been put through the equivalent of 100,000 miles of vibrations due to this cheap Proparts piece. Sigh.sleddriver wrote:I bet the last two are related.

It's kind of ridiculous though. The Proparts torque mount bracket is $20. The Volvo one is $98.
You really do get what you pay for. And now I'm out $30 for that Urethane mount.
No word yet from FCP. I'm sure all will be OK. But man, talk about having to put in hours that I really needed to put towards redoing the front end of my Altima.
Oh Robert, I'm glad to know I made you laugh! It almost makes it all feel worth it!

I have the Pro Parts upper engine mount: 20,000km later and no issues at all; very low vibration compared to my urethane one in my other car.
I have the Pro Parts steering boot, dito no issues Made in Sweden and only supplier available.

There are a LOTS of aftermarket alternatives like Meyle & Meyle HD,Febi,Lemforder,Sasic,Moog(Federal Mogul)...etc, which are about 10-30€ and lasts more than oem ones.theWIFES_S70 wrote:...it's kind of ridiculous though. The Proparts torque mount bracket is $20. The Volvo one is $98...
I installed upper torque mount from Meyle HD 5 years ago and it's still in excellent shape.Oem ones usually fail around 3-4 years in my case.It was around 10-15€ compared with 50€ for OEM one.
There is no need to buy oem parts and pay their ridiculously high prices, just make sure they are from reputable brand instead from some brand you never heard about.
Something like oem Bosch Maf and oem Volvo Bosch Maf....they are both made by Bosch and have the same part number stamped on them but they come in different boxes and(because of that)different prices...which are about 3 times higher for oem ones in every case.
Few months ago i bought serpentine tensioner pulley for my Xm from Febi and there was INA pulley in the box.
It was 50% cheaper than INA in INA box with the same 2 years warranty.

What does ProParts have to say about this? Pictures and all - shouldn't be too hard to get a comment from them on it. I had to go check when I saw this post, but I did indeed install ProParts rear shock seats when I changed over to Konis this weekend... :O
