Car turns over but won't start

Greetings,

I have a 2000 V70 XC with 185,000 miles

So I drove the family home from DE to MD the other day and the car seemed fine. It felt good. Then, in the amount of time it took to back the car up the driveway and into the car port, something bad quietly happened. Later that evening when I tried to start the car it was turning over but would not start.

There was a trouble code but I looked at it and then cleared it without writing it down. All gone! Yes, I feel kinda dumb. I should know better.

Ok, that admission out there, I:
1) Jumped/bypassed the fuel pump relay and I can hear the pump whirring away. That said, I’m only reading about 10 PSI of fuel pressure. It’s my understanding there should be around 42 PSI.
2) To verify spark, I sprayed some Starting Fluid into the intake manifold and it did fire up, idled roughly for 5-10 seconds and then stalled. The fuel pressure gauge still read around 10 PSI.
3) Disconnected the negative lead on the battery for about an hour and it almost started but just as I thought it was going to turn over, it stalled. No improvement.

I hate to just start replacing parts but the fuel filter is easy and it’s just about time to do that anyway.

Anyone have any thoughts on how I might proceed with this? I'm stumped.

You've done a good job isolating it to fuel delivery.

It's either the fuel pump or blockage in the lines (rare). If you can't get fuel pressure applying 12V to the fuel pump, it's dead.
