If he'd pulled a Jetronic and simply dumped in a Motronic box, he'd have more serious issues than the OBDII-connector not working.

Basically....he couldn't even start the engine with mot 4.4 instead of jetronic since jetronic system have two ecu(s)...the other one is for ignition and both of them works like one.
But...with re-programmed ecu(like he allready mentioned) and with wiring modifications it could be possible.

Not sure how you're going to "unplug" the obd1. Regardless, the obd1 will have nothing to do with your obd2 not working.

There is no wiring modification needed for using M4.4 ECU on M4.3 car.

The OBD-I box has a connector on the bottom and you can just unplug it.

Regardless, OP is wasting his time on OBDI connector when he should be checking the wiring on the OBDII connector.

Maybe I'm blind.

Since it didn't work with the 4.3 or the 4.4 I would tend to agree.

Because that's what I already said. I don't think he'd be worried about the OBDII not working if he'd tried to drop an M4.4 in a Jetronic-managed car. I'm not even sure it's possible, even with, as you say, programming and wiring modification. I can't find anyone who's done it, and with differences in even K and LH, I don't think it can be done w/o swapping the whole shebang. Everything is different - even the MAF, for crying out loud.

The car works and drives fine with the 4.4 but I threw a code and want to see what it is- I don't feel like tracing all the wires back to the ecu so I guess I will try and figure out the wiring diagram
