1999 V70T5M Power Steering Fluid replacement

Post by abscate »

Did the deed today to celebrate passing 180,000.

I used a oil transfer pump (6.99 at Advance) to pump out 600 mL of PS fluid from the reservoir (next to the coolant tank on the 1999), filled to slightly overfull with PS fluid, drove to Advance to pick up new fluid, emptied tank again, then topped to correct level

Total flow through was 1.2 liter. Capacity is listed as 1 liter, so I calculate I now have 86% fresh, give or take.

Old fluid was nasty dark.

Greetings. Does power steering system suffer from " new fluid shock " like a transmission ? Need to do mine and looking for a " heads up " warning. Thanks.

Not likely to be experienced for the pss. No clutches or valve bodies to enable such friction material loss.
