What do I need to remove to clean out evap area.

I'd like to be sure it's clean around the AC evaporator how can I visualize it and clean it up a bit? What needs to be removed in order for me to do this?

Remove the heater fan motor and using a bendy mirror on a stick will give you a good idea of what is in there. The only way to get full access would be to remove the whole dash, at which point you'd be as well fitting a new one after cleaning out the housing. There was a recent post by someone on how they cleaned the evaporator using a foaming product.

If you pull the fan you can get a good look at the evaporator from inside

After you clean the box, install a filter.

Thanks. Yes, I have a genuine Volvo filter and housing thanks to the local Pic-N-Save.
