The reason i'm posting now is because I'm finally having to go outside my box a little working on my mom's 03 S80. I've been able to maintain it over past 7 yrs and ~115k (now at 213k) with no outside help, including 2 timing belts, valve cover reseal, pcv system, engine mounts, control arm bushings, struts/strut mounts, MAF issues, seatbelt pretensioner failures, power window regulator problems, etc etc. Through all that i've still got a pretty positive impression of the car.
Right now i'm dealing with some fuel trim codes (for maxed out both rich and lean on both banks) and trying to get some good scan tool data stream to diagnose from. Unfortunately everything i have access to as far as scan tools won't seem to read upstream o2 sensors (though they all see the downstreams!) and i am too lazy to tap for voltage with a multimeter. This has led me to come here and ask what are the best options for DIY scan tool software that will let me access as much as possible on this vehicle?
Of course the cheaper the better, but buying an obd2 cable/dongle is no problem. Only caveat is that my only laptops right now run win 8.1 and i have an Iphone but no Android devices.
All help appreciated!
And here's a pic of my old 242.
