car runs slow and leaking oil somewhere under manifold

Post by pventuri81 »

Ok, don't know how much help i can get on this, but my 2001 Volvo v70 x/c decided to drop port of regular driving speed to twenty miles an hour and sputterr there turbo is good but it is shooting oil out from somewhere under the manifold. What it looks like it's coming from this strange box under the manifold, but could be just splashed. If anyone can help please do lol

Did you check your oil level and top it off?

Sounds like you're hitting limp mode associated with low oil level, and it could very well be that your PCV system is plugged up. Do a search for replacing the PCV system... there are several threads detailing this effort.

I am working on mine right now. That box is the PCV oil trap , it catches oil vapor from the head and block where it condenses and drains back into the block. The associated rubber / plastic hoses get old/hard and crack and then leak. It is a fairly involved job if you don't do mechanical work and don't have a good set of tools. Your poor running may or may not be related to your PCV damage. Check to see if you have any codes , that should tell you whats going on.
