Won't up shift, obd1 323 or 322

Post by adventurer2112 »

Hi All, 95 850 Na, automatic. flashing arrow when shifting into 55 or 60 mph. Replaced tps, speed sensor under air filter box, per code, starts/runs better. Still getting obd 1 codes 323, 322 with flashing arrow obd2 0730. Flushed 3 gal of fluid, used Lubrigard dr. Tranny, shifts a lot smoother, but same codes obd1, 2. Switched Pnp electrical from 94 volvo 940. Reverse lights in sync. Still obd2 0730, same obd1 codes. Used Lubrigard tranny flush, will empty & refill with clean atf. Without dropping tranny, how would I check if it is actually torque converter solenoid or mechanically the torque converter is shot? Clear the code she shifts well till next cel. Any good suggestions ? Been researching the hell out of 95 850 auto transmission.
Thanks
Jack

Prior history Driving a lot for 3 weeks as a courier. After an hour interstate 75-80 mph run, car acted like it could not downshift. Got the flashing arrow. Died repeatedly at intersection, unless I put it in neutral. Then to move I slammed into drive & punched it. A few times it died in the middle of intersection with traffic coming, way too exciting for me. Did self diagnostics, tps test made car battery discharge, had to get a jump to start. Then I replaced TPS, Speed sensor under air box which plugs into Pnp switch. No more acting like a manual transmission at intersections. YAY !

Just found dealer receipts. Program select & gear select switches replaced June 99 code 114 & 313. Says pnp switch and switch. Replaced. What switch is that? Part # 9128538-7 ????

April 2001 code 322 S1 & S2 hydraulic solenoids in tranny changed. Same part # though, 6843783-9 quantity 2
I'm thinking Torque Converter solenoid now needs to be replaced.
Thanks
Jack

Update. From Volvotips I ran the OBD1 diagnostics with helper #1 reads 1-1-1 fine, #2 all positions reported correct code. #3 engine running, as far as I can tell all components activated. 6 flashes each 1. #4 please help, I could not get it to do anything. Started the mode with 4 presses, LED didn't light up to enter activatation code. Any help is appreciated, except get full coverage, & a gal of gas & a match,
Thanks
Jack

9128538-7 is the program selector switch, as far as I know. S or E and W switch, that is.
I'm sure I'm misreading your post, but there's no longer a problem, or is there?

Hi thanks for your reply. I'm trying to find out exactly what that switch is. Receipt says pnp switch 946601,2-3 and then just switch 9128538-7. That 2 no switch is what?
Thanks

Well, like I said, 9466012-3 is the PNP (park-neutral position) switch, on the transmission, and 9128538-7 is the program selector switch where you select S or E program. :)

Hi Sommerfeldt, Thanks I understand now. Dealer replaced it years ago. The mode change works fine, at least at the gears change at speed.
