A 72 Coupe De Ville??
I think not
I actually had a real nice 76 I took in trade way back when with 7K miles and all it could be was the biggest (most ill handling) car on the planet, but at least it was cool for the times
Light yellow, NO padded roof, dark brown leather, real wire wheels and blackwalls. As far as Caddys went, it was different!

Bingo. Too nice for a daily driver... so that leaves a "weekender" car. But why would you want an unexciting 17-year-old sedan for a weekend car? Get an old 302 Ford rat rod, or a Mopar 340, or a 1960 MGB, or a '72 Coup De Ville or something.
Unexiting?
Have you ever driven an LT that has a tune. A completely different car, fun, fun!
You also can install some ipd bars, that does not change anything from the value and then it will handle
I have some very good 16" wheels and tires on our V70 R and it handles very well
You're wrong
I have to agree with Jim here, LPT's are lots of fun to drive. My old 97' 850 GLT was a blast with the ipd exhaust and K&N air filter. I never got around to getting a tune for it, but honestly I felt it didn't really "need" one.
It was quick off the line and with the suspension mods was fun to drive.

I don't know why I ever sold that car :o

You did, but it was bought for substantially less.
After I pointed out that ALL fluids needed to be changed, possible brake lines need changing, a new T-belt and serp belt installed ASAP, the tires may or may not be dry rotted, (yes, they are newer but how new, I don't know), and so on and so forth. Since I'm a dealer I offered them a fast, reasonable and quick profit.
I knew what they paid for it, it actually went through a dealer auction late August (while I was in the hospital so I would not have known about it anyway), but I don't really look for P80s anymore. 99% are just too old and broken and need too much), so they took my offer.

This is the 1% 'er of P80s in the world!

Makes sense to me - old albeit cosmetically beautiful car with low mileage is still subject to the deterioration of time. I learned that lesson when I picked up an old Jeep with less than 50k miles; nearly ALL of the rubber on the suspension was dry rotted/cracked and needed replacement, along with tires, fluids, etc. I've often toyed with the idea of getting an independent dealer license, but this hobby is already bad enough!

I can see the argument for buying a car like this though as a daily driver compared to say, a new poverty spec Corolla/Versa or any other generic craptastic economy car. Don't really see the point of a garage queen though, as Matthew said.

Found a BRAND NEW NOS wood and leather steering wheel for...............................$100!!!! (over $500 Volvo retail)
Sold my perfect original steering wheel for $50, so 50 smackers for a brand new wood and leather wheel (installed last night and looks great)!
The V70R bumper, lower grills and NEW fog lights should all be on by this weekend.

I also bought perfect set of Volans and will buy new Conti DWS06 tires 215/45/17s.

All that will be left is to repair the door panels and I will have literally a brand new 2000 GLT SE that looks and drives as new

That's a great deal on the steering wheel! I got lucky and found a really nice black leather wheel at the junkyard. The car must have been low mileage, because the leather was almost flawless. I had a tan leather wheel that I also got at the yard, but it was pretty worn looking after I unsuccessfully re-dyed it, then removed the dye. I just can't have the thin rubber wheel, and I can't stand steering wheel covers.

Anyway, we're going to need some pictures once everything is done!
