Security immobilized

I will try to keep this simple

1999 v70xc 144,000 mi. Good battery

I believe it is an immobilizer/ security issue. Car started in the morning, ran fine. Came out of the store, no go.

All lights on dash come up, fule pump pressurized, windows, lights work
Door locks do Not work.

I have had the car for roughly 6 months and have not had this issue but have read many things about it and the easy fixes, I have tried all of those.

Nearest Volvo dealer is 2.5 hrs, nearest import shop is 1 hr. I really would like to stay out of those. Any help that can be offered will me much appreciated.

I am somewhat inclined technically, know how to use a meter and such. But still am at the I need it spelled out stage.

Try starting it in neutral. The immobilizer on a '99 doesn't kill the starter, it kills the ignition about 1/2 second after the car starts. It sounds almost like a PNP switch issue which will cause the starter to not work. You can also try to quickly row the shifter back and forth from 1st to park a dozen times or so and then try again.
