XC90 steering rack replacement?

XC90 steering rack replacement?

hello everyone,

my 2004 XC90 is in dire need to a new steering rack however i dont really want to pay out a huge sum of cash so here is my following question

my XC90 has a non variable assist steering rack and ive found a cheap replacement on ebay that has the variable assist now what i was wondering is
can i install this on my car as the only difference i can see is that it has the steering sensor connection

seeing as i do not have the ECU for power assist in my thoughts shouldnt the steering rack just act like a regular one?
