Replacing Strut Assembly

Post by jhnmartin »

Anyone recommend where to get the complete strut assembly (with coil installed) for a 2002 V70 T5, either OEM or something of equal quality,. What else would you recommend to replace while i'm in there? Thanks!

For the struts you want either Sachs blue stickers (Super Touring), or if you are looking for a softer ride there is also Monroe Sensa Trac (there is also another Monroe product which is junk). Don't touch on Boge or Sachs white sticker. There is also Bilstein B4 which are a tad harder and sportier.

I got a pair from amazon, installed them and no problems so far. it has been almost 6-7 months.
The new assebly lifted the front of the car a little bit after installation probably 1 inch or so but I don't notice that now, either I am used to it ot settled litte bit, just giving you heads up.
You can also change the sway bar links while changing the whole assembly.

All will do that
You really need to change out the rears when you do the front and the cars will be a bit higher for a few thousand miles but will settle down after that

Interesting, the Boge I installed also lifted the front, the car became unstable because more weight goes on the rear suspension which is softer. Handling has degraded too. I wonder if these were for the XC70 instead, which seems to have a little more ground clearance.
