Testing of cam position sensors ?

Does someone know if there is any info on testing cam sensors, crank sensors, and vvt solenoids, I am getting a P0016 code and want to check before throwing parts at crankycar, Thank you

If it's the same at the P80's (850's and S/V70's through 2000), then it's a simple Hal sensor. I believe that Robert DIY had a write up on that or even a video. If it's not the same, my apologies. Just look for Robert DIY on You tube and see what you find...oh, and report back if you strike gold!
