S40 2000 no fog, rear lights, headlights

I own a 2000 S40 with 220.000km.
on my way home i was stopped by the police because the car did not have rear lights.
i have realized that the car did not have rear lights, fog lights and no position presence lights.
fuse is ok.

I suspect the lights switch is malfunction, when I change the switch to the first position i think no signal is sent.
if i switch to the second position the front lights (medium lights) are working fine.

any ideas?

Did you check the fuses?
I wouldn't guess the switch at this time.

Yes i have checked the fuses. All ok.
Any guess?
Any test i can make to be sure that it is the switch?
It is a expensive part and it would be nice to test be buying it

If any other cause known please advise .
I am sure other had the same problem.
