I'm at 240k on my 1998 S70 t5 auto
Need some help choosing which products to replace all the usual suspects
Timing belt
Both pulleys
Tensioner
Water pump
Serpentine belt
Cam seals(how many)
What can I buy as far as brands go? I understand oem is preferred but I've also read you get by with some other brands
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Links are helpful also
A link to a relevant post works too
Help me get this favorite car of mine back on the road
Thanks in advance- Josef

Back on the road? Did the timing belt break?
Are cam seals leaking?
Aisin water pump, INA rollers, Contitech belt, Aisin tensioner (if hydraulic).

I'll second those brands. OEM Volvo is also acceptable if you have a hard time finding everything piecemeal.cn90 wrote:I summarized everything below.

No just a leaking water pump most likely the gasket. But I've never done these items. Bought the car at 160k now having 240 I figure better get it all since I'll be in there. If my seals aren't leaking should I still change them?

I used all the parts mentioned above and they looked/were exactly like the original parts,
very pleased with the results.
Also, you need a short Torx T-45 (assuming it is the same as the 850) and I found this one to
work perfectly: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... 47#p398047
It is a tight fit and I could not fit a torque wrench on the T-45 so just did it by hand, I did
torque everything else.
Another tip, checking/scrapping off the old water pump gasket is very difficult, someone
suggested taking the wheel off and going through the wheel well - wish I had known this
when I did the job. Luckily no leaks anyway.
Here is my thread with lots of basic questions and advice from experts on here, even with
many pictures: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=74727

Just pull the cover and look at the parts, mainly tensioner.josefdavid wrote:If my vin ends with w2493035 what's my chassis code
