2005 v70 NA coils and plugs

Replaced the last three original coils and plugs on my NA

Tools: torx 30 for cover screws, M6 for coil screws, small screwdriver , plug lube, plug socket 5/8 with insert, long extension

Notes

Cover screws obstructed by the cross brace. A wobble might be useful to remove cover

The m6 coil screws ground the high tension coil, so they must be clean And tight.

I used a small screw driver to open the electrical connector snap all the way. Careful if you do this .

Plugs looked ok, replaced as unknown mileage

Are those double electrode plugs OEM Volvo? Did they do that for reliability in case one electrode fails you have a backup?

Give the focus knob a twist, or run a deconvolution on it

NA's use DENSO pronged plugs

I am surprised that OEM would run those. I always thought that single electrode plugs were the best. Electricity goes the path of least resistance so single electrode makes sense to me.

N/A engine has 3-electrode plugs, turbo - 1-electrode.
