Swap tailgate lock cylinder to driver's door?

Swap tailgate lock cylinder to driver's door?

This is a very small detail, but it's been enough to bug me. The lock cylinder in my driver's door does not work. The key goes in almost all the way, but it won't turn. I've already removed the cylinder from the handle and made sure everything is linked up correctly, so that's not the problem. I know it's the correct lock for the key, it just seems maybe the pins inside are stuck. Can't figure out how to loosen that lock up, so I might as well try this...
My question here is; can I swap the tailgate lock cylinder to the driver's door? Unfortunately I don't have a lock cylinder on my passenger door that I can swap right over since I have a V70 and not an 850. Also, how do I remove the lock cylinder from the tailgate if this will work?

If that isn't possible due to a different design or something, how do I clean out dirt and loosen up the lock? No matter how much stuff I spray in there and hit it on the ground, nothing is clearing up. It looks like there is some dirt or something in the lock... no clue how or why.

I am pretty sure you can't swap them but you can take it apart, there is a snap ring on the top of the cylinder that you can remove and then pull out the guts- I did it to swap a trunk lock into a wagon as I swapped all the cylinders on a v70- be careful as there are springs and wafers inside -you can use a small screwdriver to take it apart

I might give that a try. How do you remove the lock cylinder from the trunk?

good question I used brute force after removing the handle assembly on the sedan and I don't remember on the wagon didn't take too long though

Did you ever do this? I am thinking about swapping trunk lids on my 850 sedan, in which case I will want to swap over the lock cylinder.

I did not. I ended up getting a driver door lock cylinder from the junkyard with a matching key. It's old fashioned to have two keys for the car, but it works! I was good timing too... my remote totally quit on me not long after I swapped it out.
