Vol/FCR ABS light 98 v70

Post by skloon »

Due to my own stupidity -I unplugged my airbag with the battery attached and triggered the abs light- I have vol/fcr 1.3 and it will allow me to select clearing the light but it thinks a bit and then says 'lost connection' any hints as how to rectify this ?

Just to clarify it is the ABS light and not the SRS light that is on? That is what I'd expect to come on doing what you did.

Shame you are not closer as I have a tool to reset the SRS/airbag light. Can't help with the Vol/Fcr as I never got a copy that worked and now don't have a car to try it on now I have a new cable.

If the ABS light is on, does it not reset after a few starts? Have you tried a hard reset and touched the negative and positive battery connections with the cables disconnected?

Vol-fcr is more than enough for read & clear srs, abs, service, check engine,transmission...etc.

You MUST first read the codes in order to reset them.Of course....you need to solve the problem which triggered srs light at first place and ONLY after that you will be able to reset it.
Key must be in pos.II.

For connection error and lost comm error check for settings for COM1 port.

If you are coming down here again soon and you can't resolve it, give me a days notice as I have loaned the tool to my local repair shop as they can't reset the service lights and SRS on Volvo/SAAB and this tool can. I don't need it for now but can get it back with a work days notice (they work Mon-Fri only).

Always glad to meet another Volvo enthusiast!
