1999 C70. V70 Window Switch in a C70

Post by volvooh »

I need to replace the driver side window switch in my 1999 C70. Replacements I have found for the C70 are in the hundreds- some as much as $200, while I can find a replacement switch for a V/S 70 for less than $50. My question is would the S/V switch work in the C70? The biggest difference I can see is the window lock vs. the "all in one" up and down on the C70. I can live without that feature for the savings of $150 or more.

Can you pull part numbers for both?

We should also look at the wiring diagrams to see if the connectors will work.

Changed thread title fir search

Here is the V70"switch. 3/97 is the main switch

Opinion. After looking at the functionality here I doubt this swap will work

That's too bad...the C70 switch is much more expensive! Would I lose the "all in one" function only or do you see the whole switch being incompatible?

Is switch broken? Or in need of a good cleaning?
Can the parts from a V70 work as replacement parts in your switch?
Just wondering if the parts are interchangeable to some degree.

The S/V's have a bare bones, switch contact based system.
The C's have a much more elaborate electronic set up
with different resistive values sent over one wire to the
window/top controller for up and down operation.

The bottom line is that the switches are completely
different under the skin and are not compatible.

It looks too complicated to just add/drop the window function , but that's just one Richards opinion

If you can find the C70 wiring diagram on the web we can compare switches and figure this out.

How about a Pick and pull from a dry state?

I looked on carparts.com and may be able to land one under $75.00, so that may need to be my option. To answer above, I recently had to replace the door latch and in the process of removing the plugs from the switch, the switch body came apart. When I put it back together, I had lost the central locking feature as well as the all in one window button on the bottom. I was going live with that, but then I found that I lost the rear left window functionality on the master switch as well...that one is kind of a problem. I still can put it down using the rear controller in the back of the car, but just starts getting very problematical.

Talk to one of the guys on here who get used parts. If you ask Robert (rspi) I bet he might be able to track one down for you.
