Water in footwell

After a lot of rain, there was about 3 inches of water in the driver footwell today.
Can this be caused by a blockage? There's 2 areas where leaves and pine needles gather between the bonnet and front window under the wipers. Is that a drainage area?

Assuming you have a moon roof.
Open it and clean all 4 drains carefully

I can see 2 drains between the bonnet and windshield.
These were also blocked.
Could that have been the cause? I would have expected excess water there to just flow off the side of the car.

Another one is under right side support of rear bench.

The sunroof drains can be blocked, but I don't see how you'd get 3" of water with the sunroof closed. Or was the sunroof left lifted?

Look at the door rubber seals, all around, it was a somehow common issue. Twist the seals looking for cracks in between the rubber. Also check the horizontal seal outside at the bottom of the door glass along with the drain holes at the bottom of the door. I'd check as well closely around the windshield sealing.

The grid at the bottom of the windshield is not supposed to let water past the firewall.

I'll try those. What I meant is that the grid was blocked with leaves causing water to build up on top of the windshield seal. I could see water dripping from below the steering wheel... just above the plastic above the pedals

Both areas can be bad
All 4 sunroof drains and the cowl/windshield area and lower windshield molding

Interestingly, while installing today an amplifier under the passenger seat, I noticed the foam under the passenger carpet was soaked. I haven't yet checked the drivers side. The carpet itself is dry, but the white foam underneath is soaked.

I don't know yet what the exact issue is, I'll will check first the drains under the dash - as explained here
