Hello Everyone.
I'm going to be getting on oil change soon on my 99 S70 non turbo and I'm thinking of adding a product called BG MOA which is a motor oil additive. I have heard very good things about it. I always change my oil using full synthetic oil. But I do a lot of short trips that involve lots of stop and go driving so I'm just thinking of adding some extra protection. Car has only 81k miles by the way. Bought it exactly 3 years ago with 69K miles so only drove 12K miles since, all local short trips which involve lots of stop and go driving. Anyone in here ever used BG MOA in there cars? Would anyone recommend I start using this?
Has anyone ever used a product called BG MOA in there cars.

At 81k miles you don't need anything except good quality oil and it's regular change along with quality oil filter. With that mileage....that car is a baby.
Good quality oil have everything that engine need.
With your driving habbits of short trips you can change it twice a year at 6 months interval and that would be "severe service".
Regular service/oil change is at 12 months or about 12-15k km...whichever comes first.

I used MOA once after using BG109 engine flush after fixing the PVC system. 109 works great. MOA is simply lots of detergents which I don't believe are necessary when using synthetic oil.

Thanks for the responses guys. The car is not your typical 1999 car. Its in very very nice shape and I love it. Planning of keeping it a long time. What engine oil does everyone used in here by the way. Since I have had the car I have only used Castrol and Moble 1 full synthetic oils. Now in thinking of trying the Valvoline max life full synthetic oil.

My local Volvo dealer service guys/mechanics swear by this stuff (BG 44K).
I don't know much about it, all I know is they swear by it.

Mobil 1 or another good synthetic once a year will be fine for that car. If the car is on for more than 15 minutes you could even go every 2 years with synthetic oil for 7500 miles. Stop and go means nothing if the engine reaches full operating temperature. It would be good to do a 60 mph run once a month at least, once a week better to help get moisture out.

I'll ditto Misha here. In my experience if the car is running well and getting the scheduled service oil changes it should be fine. I wouldn't add anything until I thought there had been a problem that needed correcting.

A lot of short runs and lack of oil changes are the killers of any cars. My local dealer I think has that stuff, but don't push it. We have a Kia Sportage and the dealer pushes that stuff, mainly as they push dino oil and charge an arm and leg for synthetic. I'm guessing that gives a bigger margin than synthetic? Mind you I get fed up with the Kia dealer booking my wife's Sportage every 6 months for an oil change when the car does about 4k miles a year.
What I still don't get is why oil in NA needs to be changed so often. In Europe the synthetic oil change can be up to 2 years and 20,000 miles or more. My bother in Sweden had a friend with a 5 series BMW bought new, and it has a service adviser system that checks oil quality. First oil service? 32,000km! Would I run it that much? No, but once a year for average cars should be ok. I do find the dealers and oil change companies make such a mark up on this process and hang the 'warranty' card over you all in the chase of profit and not because the vehicle needs it.
Ok, rant over!

It doesn't.It's just advertising trick. One year is upper limit independently of mileage.
Nope!Replacement interval can be around 25.000km OR 1 year whichever comes first...but NOT more than 1 year.
My friend from Switzerland have 2007 BMW 330 ix and they also have a dealer recommendation of about 30k km of oil change interval.scot850 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2017, 14:12My bother in Sweden had a friend with a 5 series BMW bought new, and it has a service adviser system that checks oil quality. His engine died in warranty period and they had to install a new engine in it's car.
Of course...they tried to blame him and to prolong a new engine installation because the warranty was about to expire.
He won and got a brand new engine in his car.
