hey guys so i took a risk hoping its a simple fix.

I just bought a s60 2004 with under 140k miles on it for 500$. as far as i know the only problems are electrical and a bushing on one of the A arms.

My problem is that my dash itself doesnt work at all. the lights swork but the odo, milage, temp, gas gauge. none of them work. the screen on the left says bulb failure position light.

any idea if that would cause this? the other is a sbs airbag service needed.

now it was in a wreck so that might be the reason the airbag light is on.

when i drive sometimes some of the numbers on the dash show computer wise but still no reading from the odometer and ssuch

Does your dash (also called DIM) have the silver rings around the gauges? If so, it is supposed to not have the well known DIM issue, as it was corrected by Volvo from 2004 on (2004 cars had the silver rings around the gauges). The fact that the DIM lights work but the gauges don't makes me think in the first place at an alternator not charging properly or not being the right one (Ampers) for your car. If you want to try a DIM from the junk yard, it needs to match 4 of the 5 numbers stamped on the side of the DIM.

The airbag service may be from an issue with the airbags or seat belts - for which pray you don't crash the car even at low speeds.
It may also have been triggered by someone who disconnected the radio for example, the message can be simply erased at a Volvo dealer.

Try getting a used original Volvo control arm from if possible, because almost all aftermaket ones are well known to last less than 1 year.
