2010 XC70 3.2 Radiator Anti Tamper Device

Post by dporschey »

I am getting the occasional charging system failure message. The battery is new and the alternator is fine. No check engine light. There is one code stored it is ECM - U028600 Lost Communication with Radiator Anti-Tamper Switch. I found another thread with someone having the same issue and they had their entire radiator replaced under warranty and it fixed the problem. I was able to locate the Anti Tamper sensor online for $50. My question is has anyone else replaced the Anti-Tamper Device on their car before. The sensor is number 2 on the diagram. It is on the upper left corner, left when looking from front of car or passenger side, of the radiator and sandwiched between the radiator and the cooling fan. If you pull back the cooling fan shroud you can see it. Does anyone know of an easy way to replace this or am I going to have to remove the cooling fan assembly?
