Thanks Stephen. Let me know when you are coming and I'll let you know if I still need it. I picked an engine shield from Dave's BTW.

zhenya wrote:On my 850 I've been having some trouble filling it. Last week I really struggled to get it to take any fuel at all, and gave up at about 14-15 gallons with it clicking off every gallon or less. (Yes, I moved the nozzle to all different positions). Today (same station, different pump) it worked fine until it hit about 13 gallons then I was able to slowly add a couple more with it clicking off every few seconds. This is from near empty, having driven 10-20 miles after the fuel light came on.

I've read everything I can find on this issue and I gather that there is a filter near the filler neck that gets clogged, or something in the lines or check valve near the charcoal canister in the driver's fender. Looking around and under near the filler neck I can follow it from tank to gas cap, but can't locate anything other than lines contained inside some kind of plastic cover.

Where should I be looking and how should I start here?
Did you ever figure this problem out? Please update!
Thx

No, I haven't done anything about it. I'm not 100% convinced I have a problem though. On a recent longer trip I think I was able to get about 16 gallons in it and I would not have been surprised if there were still a couple in the tank, so I don't know. The gas gauge never goes to fully pegged on my 850 like it does on my v70 but that doesn't really mean much...

I experienced this problem for the first time yesterday. After 19yrs! My char-can + SO valve are in the rear. Something's Toes Up with either the SO or the ORVR valve, as the tank itself couldn't have been showing a false low-gas reading. The SO only closes when energized and it's new as of 4 or so years ago. The ORVR however is original and now 19yrs old. The last thing it could be is that the SOV vent line filter/open end is clogged for some reason.

Bummer.....I was enjoying my time off from working on this car......

Sled - just to confirm you have EVAP system in the rear like a 1999+ ?

I thought that change came a year later.

Indeed! Further, the sled came out of the factory in Aug 1997!

Yesterday I added about 5ga. as I was on fumes. No problems. Then later added another 5 ga. (much lower price). On the second fill, I heard a loud "BSSSCHHHHH" and half-expected to see gas either on my pants or the ground. Pleased to see neither. Something gave way though....didn't smell any gas in the garage this morning. A good sign (smell). Shut-off valve should only be energized when the EVAP system is under test.
