Classic dried grease issue as stated above. Just did it. 96 year only problem I believe. Excellent write up above. Come to stop, turn wheel slightly to right, feel clunk in wheel on take off but if you use a little imagination it can be felt more in the steering column than anywhere else.

If you can confirm that the clunk is indeed the steering, then just get a new boot and new grease on that CV axle. I really would be surprised if it is bad.

Mechanic found the right cv inner boot torn and the grease was everywhere as one would expect. Hard to believe I ran all the grease out of the joint in a week or so and trashed the joint.
My money is on one of the front strut towers binding/catching/clunking as the wheel is turned. Both struts rotate and are held in place from the upper strut bearings. Could be a needle bearing, something loose, something not fully seated upon reassembly, the lower strut mount bolts being tightened before the hub piece is firmly pushed inwards.

All of this to say it might be a geometry problem: Something isn't properly lined up.

Jack the front end up off the ground, engine off, have someone turn the SW while you watch the strut towers from both sides and listen for noises.

Erik called it right on. Did a wrench check this weekend and found the right sway bar loose on the bottom joint. However it wouldn't tighten. It appears the nut stripped on installation. Removed and replaced nut and all is well, no clunk.

Going to reboot cv next weekend if possible.
