98 v70 awd cruise control not working

Post by tom4342 »

My cruise stop working recently and in several forums i read check the vacuum hose and brake switch,i pulled the battery and tray and found the servo but with no hose feeding it just 2 small ones on the servo itself and a power plug. I see no evidence of a hose going to it my question is there supposed to be or is it totally electronic? If it has a hose what manifold port does it go to?

The hose that connects to it runs from the passenger compartment to the little pump right alongside the hood release cable. It's a plastic vacuum line.

My cruise control stopped working on 2000 V70. Turned out to be the ABS module.
Does your trip odometer and speedometer stopped working then came back? Also my brake light came on (no ABS light) and orange arrow flashes.

Nice video however doesn't show where that vacuum hose goes that feeds the unit under battery tray

The pump under the battery tray creates vacuum which pushes a diaphragm unit close to the accelerator pedal. The vacuum line from that pump snakes directly to the diaphragm. The diaphragm has a bracket which is directly connected to the accelerator pedal. The vacuum is teed for a braking switch which is located directly above the brake light switch. This is called the cruise cancel switch.

Different beast on the ME7 cars from 1999-on. Once Electronic throttle body came in, the cruise function integrated nicely into this system, and the vacuum pump, hoses, and stuff under the battery disappears.

If the ABS module goes bad, the electronic control unit (ECU ) inhibits cruise function as a safety measure.

Brake switch, check. Accelerator linkage arm, check. Vacuum hose near battery, sliced! I reconnected the ends using a piece of windshield washer hose. Cruise control, works! Wish I had known about this 7+ years ago when it quit :-)
