Last week, I opened the boot to get my bag out and unlocked using the button on the remote. When I tried to lock it, it wouldnt lock. I didnt think much of it at the time, thinking the battery might have died but I found it odd that the car didnt warn me like it did last time ("battery low") message on the DIM.

After replacing the battery that evening, it still didnt work so I tried the spare... nothing. Replaced that battery too and still no joy. For now, Im locking it with the removable blade but that only locks the driver door and doesnt set the alarm. Ive looked on Vida and there are no faults there either. Im quite new to the tool, so if there are any 'advanced' tests I could run, I would appreciate the advice.

I've also tried disconnecting the battery overnight, slamming the driver door and a few other tricks... nothing has seemed to work. I hope some kind soul can help me solve this... This car is really starting to get me down :(

You might want to move your post to the forum that covers 2004+ S40 & V50 fP1 cars. You have posted in the forum for 2004 & earlier S40s.
