Recently purchased a 2001 S60 with 125K on it. Doing my research I learned about the time-bomb that could be my transmission. Just to preface, I have had no trouble at all in the past 2 weeks of ownership with hard shifts, flaring, or any other symptoms. However, I would like to avoid any trouble in the near future.
Going through all of the old service documents, I saw no mention any ATF changes. I have also read about the updated b4 servo cover. I went ahead and ordered the servo cover from IPD ($30, why not?) and a full flush kit. I have my 14 qts of Toyota T-IV ready to go for a full flush.
My questions:
1. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" - Should I even be messing with any of this right now as I have no current complaints?
2. Should I replace the servo cover just to be sure I have the updated one?
3. Should I do a full ATF flush or just drain the gear box and refill?
3.1 My initial thought was to do 2 or 3 drain and fills in the next 10k miles, then do a full flush. Is this a good approach?
Thanks!
