VOL-FCR Software?

Wasn't VOL-FCR for the 96+ 850's free for download and free to use at one time? I seem to recall the only cost factor was the physical cable and the software was at no cost.

Lost a hard drive and it had VOL-FCR on that HD. .... Looking to recoup that software again, unless something else of better software for free should be considered?

There are some downloads online somewhere on a file sharing type site. Not sure that there are any legitimate looking sites that have it available.

It's around 20-30$ on ebay or amazon along with cable.

For that price,keep the software and toss the cable if it's not needed.

Exactly. That's the easiest way to get the software. The serial type cable doesn't work anyway (at least the one I have). Just use a VAG-COM cable.

I have a serial to obdII cable and it works excellent with old computer.

Maybe that's the issue. I was using a serial to USB 2.0 adapter on my Windows 10 laptop. I think it was some kind of compatibility issue.

Newer versions of vol-fcr have usb to obdII cable.
I heard that serial to obdII with usb adapter will not work properly....if it works at all.....but some guys at volvospeed.com claims that they had success with it.
