Volvo 850 glt 1996 216K Specifications for battery.

Post by sergoparia »

Hi guys,

Could you please tell me how powerful should be a battery on Volvo 850 glt non-turbo. The specification of mine is 6-47A 625CA 500CCA.
I am experiencing a little problem while starting: a starter is doing a couple rough rounds before starting.
Another question: can the non proper battery affect the ignition system somehow?

Thank you for your help, that forum is really great.

Your battery is a bit light. The OEM battery has 520 CCA and most of the aftermarkets are in the 590 to 660 CCA range. The type 47 is correct.

So long as the battery doesn't have a shorted cell and is maintaining the 13ish volts level it should have any impact on the ignition or fuel injection systems.

Thank's Ozark Lee.

I really appreciate your help.
And I got another question.
:D
I am still trying to solve the low mileage problem. Today I checked my air thermostat and it was Ok, It was about 75 degrees open to cold air, but I opened it more. So I'll see what happens.
Also, I took off the plug to check the spark, actually I took off 3 of 5 one after reinstalling the other. I got new genuine Volvo plugs, and ,just visually, for me it seems the spark is not really stable and a bit chaotic. That is why I had asked about the battery. And if it has nothing to do with the ignition, I guess I'll check again FCP Groton for rotor and wires.

And the last one, can the weak unstable spark provoke code p0133 without giving specific code for the ignition problem?

Sorry for such long speech
I just really enjoy to speak with people with whom I share the same passion.

Allo!

Use to live in LaSalle PQ myself!

WHen was the last time you did a tune up?

I would suggest you do the tune up regardless if its not be done for awhile.

Things that would cause bad gas mileage could be

vacuum hoses
air filter and any malfunctions in the filter box
maf sensor
02 sensor

Start with the tune up and go from there and report back to us on whats up.. we can help you through it mon ami!

That code usually signals a bad oxygen sensor. If it is bad it will also explain the poor fuel economy.

Thank's guys.

Went to camping on weekend.
So, I will do tune up, and we'll see.
By the way, I checked all visible vacuum hoses , they seem to be Ok. I changed recently air filter and O2 sensor, cleaned a MAF. It did not help much though.
And guys, can you tell me please the meaning of the light on the right side of dashboard: it looks like a circle with the exclamation sign in it. I got it on my way back home .
P.S. for CarVolvo: I live in Rosemont Mtl. Merci pout ton aide mon ami
