1999 V70T5M56 VVT Exhaust Hub 1275363 - new or used?s

Post by abscate »

Decision time for the T5

My exhaust hub growl is getting worse, so I have to choose between

New one from FCP $327 bucks

or I can get one free from my part out car.

T5 currently has 185k on it, the part out 120k

I think used is the way to go here, but need the MViSdom of the Fora..

I would hang the hub from your parts car. All four of our 2000 V70's have over 200K with no hub issues.

Stick with the used hub. My cousin got 202k miles out of his original VVT hub, and that's only because we destroyed it by not preloading it properly. I put a used one on his car and it's been running great since then... now at 207k miles.

So far the Lab has been on pointer. The used CVVT went in fine and Is still quiet. It was from a well maintained 1999 NA with 200,000 miles on it.

This was made up news. NAs in 1999 did not have exhaust CVVT, or even Intake CVVT, until 2000.

Hi... I know this is an older post But can anyone tell me if the VVT Hub rotation is a Smooth action?
I feel a Roughness as a turn the Exhaust Hub back and forth.
I started to experience a roughness in my engine a few weeks ago did all the normal checking Vacuum leak,Duct work leak, Spark plugs, Coils, PVC system, timing check.... Unable to find anything wrong... Now I got a Check engine Light , Code P0016.
Every sensor has be replaced (3) (Got Spares from Less mileage cars..) Both sensors on the Front and Rear Exhaust Cam and Checked the Screen on the oil port, both Sensors are fine. Crankshaft sensor I metered out and compared to 2 others same Readings... But replaced anyway.

So now I got the timing belt off again and im don't remember when I replace the head if the VVT Hub had this rough feeling or Should it be a Smooth Action...

Anyone?? 02 V70 xc

Thanks Guys..
Jay

My experience is that they operate smoothly but in order to check them you need to have the belt off. I am assuming that you did remove the belt to check. If you removed the belt did you properly preload the CVVT when you reinstalled the belt? If not, that would explain the P0016.

Changing the hub requires that you have a camshaft adjustment tool available. You need it to be able to torque the center retaining bolt out and back in and you also need it to correctly align the hub on the camshaft since it is not keyed in any way.
