1993 850 Coolant Recovery Tank Interchange?

Post by slantvaliant »

What is the interchange on 1993 850 coolant recovery tanks?
I found the part number 9141106, listed for '93s, and 9141095, which at least one vendor says will fit but is listed for '94-up applications.

Should fit. I seen no difference in the '93 850's that I've seen.

Vida shows 2 different tanks, one for -93 and another for 94-98. Don't know what the difference is as the pictures for both parts on Vida look identical with one larger pipe running to the back of the engine and another pipe to a connection on the thermostat housing. Maybe the method of the part mounting is different?

Whatever you do, do NOT buy an aftermarket tank. They last about 6 months and will split and crack right on the seam. Better off getting a used O/E at a pick and pull if you are tight on cash.

If anything about a part changes most companies will change the part number or dash number. If the part number is for an assembly and any part in the assembly has been changed the assembly part number will be changed. So say volvo or its supplier hypothetically decides to change the type of plastic in the tank. You wouldn't necessarily be able to tell a new tank from the old one because they would be identical as far as you could tell by looking at them. If parts change and new part numbers aren't assigned companies can get faced with combined stock and not being able to tell one part from another if they are very similiar.

They all look the same to me.
Maybe the ones up to '94 doesn't have a low coolant sensor in it....just a guess.

I have an early base 94 with the 1993 taillights, aluminum control arms, etc. and my tank has a low level sensor on it.
