I'm pretty sure these are Bad on my car too. I'm not looking forward to changing the rear one.
I had a blown oil seal in my turbo. I got a rebuild kit from eBay for, around, $30. After I put thread lock on the turbine shaft, over torqued it, and snapped it, I bought a brand new "turbo cassette" from eBay for $150. Way cheaper than a new, rebuilt, or even junk yard turbo.
A bit of advice; while you have the turbo out, swap out the exhaust manifold gaskets. It's recommended to use new exhaust gaskets when putting everything back together. Those gaskets are only meant to be torqued down once. If you try to reuse the old ones, they may not seal correctly.
