Bought myself an xc90 with a burnt exhaust valve. Thought i was just gonna fix the head and then flip it. However, an over enthustiastic mechanic before me had completely stripped the threads for the turbo oil pressure pipe in the block. Tried both heli-coil and time-sert but there just isnt enough material. So now the engine has to come out and taken to a specialist in broken bolts and thread repair. Stay tuned for more pictures...

Drained the AT fluid. Looks dirtier than when I do my oil changes. Gonna do a proper flush once I get my car back together.

What is the thread pitch of this stripped hole ? Is this hole not accessible w/o engine removal ?

So got the engine back from the machine shop that managed to fix the broken threads by custom fitting a "time sert" with the outer diameter of 18mm(!)
The plan is to put the engine back tomorrow morning.

Engine back in place!
