Multiple Codes....common issue?

Post by PennaPilot »

I just bought this V70 2.5T very reasonably from a customer.

It has the following codes: P0420, P2402, P2188.

I'm betting on its a single simple issue, like a loose clamp.

Can anyone give some guidance before I rip this car apart?

Its pointing to both evap leak test system and an intake leak. Figure about 4-5 hours labor to find the faults and install parts. It could be a single leak causing both but I doubt it. It's probably two faults.

Forgot to mention that it has 166k miles on it.

Pulled the plugs today.....they're original.

We'll probably not original after 166k. Post some pictures of the ends if you have a minute. If the gap out at 060 or something crazy like that I'll bite, though!

Many of use Volvo parts only on these cars since the quality of aftermarket varies so much. Pay and cry once.

Tested the Gap on all the plugs. Smallest gap was .092. Widest was .110

Replaced Fuel Cap and that code hasn't come back up.

MAF was incredibly filthy. Cleaned and No code yet. Did find a boost leak on the input to the intercooler.

Now I've got a P0301 Coil Code. Off to FCP!

It's probably a safe bet but move the coil first and see if the code moves. And buy two coils...one to replace and a spare. I've got tested used ones if you want a cheapie too. If you are near Bryn Mawr I deliver.

Huge gaps...I think you are right on original...holy crap! You want single electrode Volvo or Bosch for your turbo, not the fancy pants three electrode ones.

Looking good!!

I might take you up on those. I don't really get down that way too often, but I'm right off of 202 not far from the river.

I take 202 on the way down from NY, but Juniorette doesn't go back until January.
