Hi All,
Ok so I recently replaced a damaged condensor on my car...Replaced all the O rings and so on. Went to get it gassed up..Ac guy said he got about 700grams of gas in it. He said he could not find the tx valve and told me its prob blocked. After research I find out 850s dont have a tx valve but an orifice or expansion valve. So I pulled the radiator resivour and ecu box. To my amazement the orifice valve is nowhere to be seen. Just the normal pipes. Any ideas..

It's in the pipe, right at the big joint in front of the timing cover on LHD, I think it's the same on RHD

It's up near the firewall in the liquid line. I don't recall any connectors in my line. On a properly running system, you can see where it is due to sudden condensation forming, at least in a humid environment. Otherwise, you can feel for the line suddently getting cold.
Not sure if Volvo ever used TXV's on 850/s/v/c/70's....my old SAAB did. Much better way to meter refrigerant IMO.

You have to evacuate the system of refrigerant, then just open the pipe, pull it out, put in the new one. Pay attention to which end goes where.
