will my tuned ECU/turbo from my 98 v70awd swap in to a v70r?

Post by broken08 »

My 98 v70awd has suffered an unfortunate HG failure. I'm debating what to do with it at this point. One option I'm looking at is a v70R 1998 and wondering if I can move my whole pile of performance parts from my v70awd in to it. This includes; ARD ECU tune, green injectors, TCV, RIP, snabb intake, and TD04-19tsc turbo.
Trying to look at better options than a head gasket. Plus I'm concerned it could be a cracked block and the HG wouldn't even fix it.
Thanks!

Should. If the emissions system is different it may toss an emissions CEL. Probably should not have tuned an LPT engine anyways.

If the ARD tune is indeed for an LPT/2.4, then it will not likely be a straight swap into the 2.3 engine on a V70R. I would ask ARD. The ECU is the only tricky part, of course everything else will physically swap.

The ECU wiring layout is the same. I would use the green injectors, TCV, RIP, snabb intake, and TD04-19tsc turbo and get a custom tune for the R.

Yes, physically the ECU is exactly the same inside and out, the only issue is the tune. ARD may well re-flash it more cheaply without charging for a full tune, since it already has one of their stickers on it.

So in theory I can just use mine as a parts car then, retune the ecu, plop on the big turbo and be good?
Sounds better than doing a head gasket to me

That's about right. So much easier than a HG perhaps a full weekend of work.

ARD replied and said it will all swap right in but for best performance a retune would be good.
And to the grump who said I shouldn't have tuned the LPT...quit being a grump. ARD also noted the LPT is capable of more power than the R after tuning, so....yea

Whatever helps him to sell his retune.
