I have a XC90 Key Will Not Move Past Position 1.
I have read on other threads that it is most likely the lock cylinder that has failed. One thing that puzzles me is that when I step on the brake I do not hear the interlock release in the sifter. However, the brake light does come on when the petal is pressed.
I removed the steering column cover and removed the cable that goes to the sifter and moved it along the range of motion.
I also removed the ignition and tried to the move the cable to get the car out of park while starting the car with a screwdriver and I can not get it out of park.
The lock cylinder is already on order and will arrive in a couple of days.
two questions-
How can I get the car out of park?
Could there be something else wrong? What else can I troubleshoot? What else can cause the cylinder to not turn to start the car???
Thanks!
