I sold my 850
As far as fluid services go, I don't know when anything was done. It was owned by former Volvo tech from the dealer I purchased it from, who left his wife drive it for a few months before they traded-in. I've done oil changes obviously, but nothing else. I've checked the basic fluids, power steering, coolant, etc, and it all seems fine, but I haven't looked at the AWD or Trans fluids. Something worth noting, this car had the engine replaced, by Volvo under warranty (I have the carfax for this), at 54k miles for an oil consumption issue. I have literally no issues with the engine losing fluid, power, or gas mileage in anyway right now. I get about 21-24mpg average depending on how late I am for work, so I'd say I'm good there.
I've had this car for exactly one year this month, when I bought it, I noticed there was a slight shake/play/whatever you wanna call it, even just idling through the parking lot. This happens at ALL speeds. Anywhere from 1-2mph all the way to 120+ (yes, I drive fast, but I'm safe about it
During the summer months, I replaced 3 of the engine mounts, upper and lower torque and the one near the passenger's side tire. No change at all in the vibration. So today I had it looked at by my local trusted mechanic (he's the only one I'd ever trust near my cars) and discovered that all 4 of my wheels have bends in the edges of them... Lovely, so the previous owner was pothole happy. Other than that, the car is solid. All of the rubbers are in good condition and not rotted, I even checked them out myself while he had it on the lift. (Control arms, lower engine mounts, ball joints/tie rods, axles, etc.)
Now, obviously some of the shake is going to come from 4 bent wheels (still pissed about that
Now that I'm think about it as I write this, that makes be believe that the strut towers are going bad. My mechanic mentioned this while I was there, but I had just woken up and forgot it makes that noise once in awhile. I do need struts, they aren't awful, but they are starting to clunk in colder weather. If anyone could confirm or help me with this, that'd be great. If I come up with anything else, I'll post in an "Edit" to this original post if no one has responded.
