Hello i recently bought a V70 year 2000 fitted with an automatic gearbox.
When i got the vehicle i was unable to remove the key from the lock cylinder.

I read about people having the same problem and the solution was to wiggle the shifter button a few times and put some grease behind the button i used wd-40 and finally i could i was able to remove the key from the lock.

However when i inserted the key again i was not abled to get the key to turn!!
So right now i am unable to turn the key and also unable to shift gears because shift lock button is enabled.

I am starting to get really frustrated and it feels like this car is cursed or something

I bought the car (station wagon) for my father so he could have some space for his stuff in it.
Also i do not want to spend a fortune on it but i feels like i have no other choice so i am looking for your help/suggestions :)

The steering column lock is engaged now. Have you tried wrestling the steering wheel one direction or another while attempting to turn the key?

This can be exacerbated if the weight of the car is on the front wheels in Park with the wheels turned, and many of the parking brakes on these old things don't work anymore.

Yes that was one of the first things i tried-
Since i had quite a few volvos in the past i know that sometimes you have to rock the steering wheel a bit to turn the key.
However it did not work at this particular model.....

Well i got the key to turn now.
However the shift override does not seem to work now and i have to press down on it or push the brake pedal everytime i want to move the gear to D position.
Is that normal because i did not have to do it before?

Solenoid seems to be working also. Just wondering if the shift override should stay down when you push it or pop back up again?
How does the button behave normally?

Pops right back.
It needs to be replaced, it's probably all gummed up.
It could have had something spilled on it, maybe recently, maybe farther back, but it's definitely gummed up

If it doesn't move freely, try a little WD-40 to loosen it up.
