I found a 1999 Volvo s70 I am very interested in.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/5927307175.html
The car turns over and has a new belt and water pump. Is it worth it? If so how much would a fix for this be? I understand there can be a lot of variables. Best guesstimates would be much appreciated.
Looking to purchase round 2

For sale is a 1999 Volvo S70 T6 with Turbo. Needs timing corrected. A friend gave this car to me when he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Had a blown head gasket. Paid a mechanic to fix it, and he machined the head, and replaced the head gasket and fuel pump, then disappeared. He never corrected the timing, so the car won't run. It has been sitting in my driveway for 4 months, and I just want it gone now. Should run just fine If you have your mechanic do the adjustment. I am looking to get $700 out of it, even though I know the parts alone are worth $3k or more. Time to move on. It has:
Clear title, with tabs good until 12/16
4 good wheels/tires
new fuel pump
new head gaskets and head machined to spec.
all leather interior
sunroof
power windows/doors
power driver's seat
heated seats
cold weather driving setting
AWD
4 wheel disk brakes
keyless entry
+++
Car has great acceleration and handling, and a quiet smooth ride. IT IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING, so you will have to tow it to your shop/home/?? I am firm on the $700, so please do not waste either of our time asking to buy it for less. Not interested in trades.

Thats a car that needs major repair that the seller can't afford and is spinning a story to unload it. My guess is he bought it to flip and is underwater
Pass.

Timing corrected? In other words, I #%#!#^ up and now the engine is shot. I want to unload this car because I have no idea what I'm doing and it needs a new motor. PASS on this one.

In addition to all that's mentioned above, the AWD system more than likely will need some attention, and the AWD on these cars is costly to repair/ maintain. It looks like a mess, so I would pass.

How long is a piece of string ? Minimum a timing belt so 400 or so but I suspect the timing went awry so a new head, maybe it messed up the block so another 1800 for used parts then you get it moving and figure out what else is busted much better buying one that runs and drives for 2000 and do the deferred maintenance from then on
