S60 taking a long time to heat up

As JRL, mine takes a while to warm up. We had around 5F this time of the year. I drive the car gently inside city, the needle will be at 10h30 in about 5 minutes. Instead, I let it idle for a few seconds after firing up, then keep the gas at 2500 rpm for 30 seconds: warms up much faster. However I use 0W40 oil, so it's safer to do so on cold engine. The thermostat is 2 yrs old.

To check the thermostat let it idle from cold for 1 min, if the upper hose is warm at it's upper portion, the thermostat is stuck open.

Thanks for the replies- will just keep an eye on things for now! Btw, I looked for that ProParts unit on FCP but couldn't find it. You sure it's for an S60? Earlier models (2001 and '02) apparently can just have a t-stat replacement and not the whole assembly (some non-turbo cars too).

Never mind- found it...that less expensive model if for non-turbo's only. S60 2003-'05 and V70 2003-'07. Don't know why the turbo owner's are more expensive...but design must be slightly different.

In Europe it's possible to buy t-stat alone, it's Gates TH35991.
